EAST REN GOOD CAUSES BENEFITS FROM MAIDENHILL SUCCESS

CALA AND TAYLOR WIMPEY CONSORTIUM HANDS OVER BUMPER ROOF DONATION

A local East Renfrewshire charity has received its fifth bumper donation of £2,650 from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and Cala Homes (West) thanks to its charity partnership with the consortium, Maidenhill.

Both homebuilders, whose homes make up the Maidenhill community in Newton Mearns, set up a partnership with East Renfrewshire Good Causes (ERGC) back in 2019 when the community-focussed development was launched, where the local grassroots charity receives a ‘roof donation’ of £50 per each completed home.

The latest funding boost takes the total amount donated from the homebuilders at Maidenhill to a whopping £17,100, since its launch.

The charity, which was founded in 2007 by Russell Macmillan, a Newton Mearns native, has donated more than £1 million to groups and individuals who need it most within the East Renfrewshire area.

Thanks to Maidenhill’s latest donation, Russell and the charity’s volunteers have been able to help over 1,000 people within the local community including activities such as donating clothing and food supplies to young families, and even installing a wet floor shower room for an elderly beneficiary to help them remain independent in their home.

Russell of East Renfrewshire Good Causes said: “We want to say a huge thank to the Maidenhill consortium for the continued funding boost.

“Through the roof donation initiative, we have been able to give vital support to individuals and groups who need it most. This is incredibly important as we are seeing an increase in those needing our help as a result of the cost-of-living crisis. This welcome cash injection comes as we embark on the charity’s next chapter, taking our work beyond East Renfrewshire, and branching out to Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire, amongst other areas.”

Sophie Whittaker, Marketing Manager at Cala Homes (West) said: “Russell and his team at East Renfrewshire Good Causes do such invaluable work within the community so we are pleased that we can support the charity with this fifth roof donation.”

Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “As Maidenhill continues to grow and we welcome more families, we are thrilled that we can continue to support ERGC which is such a worthy cause. We know the roof donation funding is really helping those in the local area. East Renfrewshire Good Causes has been our selected charity since we first broke ground at Maidenhill and it has been great to see the fantastic work Russell has managed to achieve with some of the money donated.”

ERGC focuses on helping worthy causes throughout the community, including helping local residents and organisations like care homes and schools, who really need the support. Just this year, the charity announced that its network will extend to new local authorities including Renfrewshire, Glasgow, East Ayrshire, and South Lanarkshire.
